LYSL - Travel League
|
What is travel soccer?
The national soccer program is organized in a pyramid with recreational
soccer at the lowest level. There are a number of levels
culminating in the highest level of the sport, the national team. In the
local area, travel soccer is represented by teams formed at the
recreational all-star, club, select or premiere levels.
LYSL is one of a few local soccer clubs to
offer both house and travel level opportunities. The club and
select levels are more advanced and competitive than recreational
soccer. They require more of a commitment of player and parent's
time and money, but they allow a player to develop more soccer skills.
Most of our teams are club teams although several are trying to compete
on the select level. If there is enough player and coach interest,
we could even offer recreational all star team opportunities which would
require little additional commitment from players and coaches.
Participation in the LYSL travel
program requires registration and a fee of $26. Note, that players
in the recreational program only have to pay an additional registration
fee of $7 for travel specific costs. In addition, there is a
uniform fee for all players for their uniform which includes: home and
away jerseys, shorts and two pairs of socks. Financial commitments
beyond that are a function of the number of indoor/outdoor tournaments
and indoor/outdoor leagues the team is involved in during the year.
The decision on which leagues and tournaments is made by the parents and
coaches of each team.
The LYSL teams are organized
individually. There are no formal procedures for setting up a team
or selecting players from existing recreational teams. Travel
coaches are encouraged to hold tryouts yearly. If you are interested in
playing, please contact the travel director if you have not already done
so and he will inform the coaches of your interest. If we know of
your interest we may be able to place the players and, if there is
enough interest even set up a new team. Although we are proud of our
travel teams we are always refining the program and would welcome input
and suggestions. |
