FAQ's

How do I get a Coach's Pass or a Risk Management Pass?

All LYSL staff, coaches and assistant coaches must go through a risk management background check that is administered by New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA).  Candidates provide contact information to the league (name, birthday, address, phone, email) to be entered into the NYSWYSA database.  Upon receiving this information, NYSWYSA sends an email to the candidate directing them to a secure web site to enter private information to initiate the background check.  Background checks typically are completed within a week or two of the candidate providing their information to NYSWYSA.  CLICK HERE to Request a Background Check

What should I do if I do not agree with a referee's call?

As a parent of a player in LYSL, you cannot address a referee during or after a game.  Our referees are children and should not feel intimidated nor uncomfortable no matter how poorly you feel they are officiating a game.  If you would like to complain about a referee, please let the Referee Coordinator on the LYSL Board of Directors handle the training opportunity.  Please review the Coach & Parent Guide to Soccer Rules and the LYSL House Rules for more understanding of the rules LYSL strives to adhere to.

Can my child play up an age division?

The Liverpool Youth Soccer League is a recreational league that promotes age-appropriate play, therefore no player will be allowed to play up.  Certain situations may arise where the Board of Directors may approve a request, but it is on a case by case basis.

What do I need to bring to my player's first game/practice?

- A Tykes player receives a ball, shin guards and a jersey shirt.

- A player in the U8 Division and up receive a complete jersey (shirt, shorts, socks)

In both cases, players should bring a full water bottle to games and practices.
